We pray...That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge
…that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Ephesians 3:17-19

DAY 8—A relationship with an Apostle is beneficial for any of us in finding fullness.

For years after being saved, I served the Lord in a denomination that believed  the ministry of Apostles ceased after the first century. It was after the Holy Spirit came upon me, several years after I had “entered the ministry” myself, that I became aware of Apostles.

I remember asking Brother Ivan Spencer, founder of Elim Bible Institute, if he could tell me what an Apostle does. He told me that Apostles hold spiritual authority, even when they do not assert that authority before men. In life, and in years of ministry, I have come to know the utter value of submitting to the “apostolic authority” of a person who is himself under the authority of Christ. This is a place of safety, especially in the time when anti-Christ spirits are running wild in the earth deceiving every believer they can.

My conviction concerning Apostles is that they are “fathers in the faith.” However, one’s age is not so important a matter as is one’s spiritual maturity.

DEAR FATHER, I praise You for the times You and I can be alone with one another. But, I am very much aware that I need the counsel, guidance, fellowship and love that comes to me from others who are mature in the faith. Thank You for placing persons like this into my life. NOW—I ask You to help me be, for others in the Body, a source of strength, and counsel, and encouragement. Please help us all maintain a walk that is right, that glorifies You, and that points others toward knowing Your Kingdom.
